As you know, I'm a Star Wars fan. A while back, I reviewed the 75256-1 - Kylo Ren's Shuttle. I liked the model, but with the high wings, I had trouble getting to fit in a display. So I went looking for other options for this set, and came across 2 alternate models, designed by the_bricked_cave. I love the black, mean style of the models, and given their height, they are perfect for my plans.

The first one is the MOC-40680 - Mandalorian Komrk Class Fighter - Knights of Ren Edition. Despite loving Star Wars, I had not yet heard of this model before, and I was intrigued by the transforming wings.

For the 'I have not heard yet of this model before'-part: Shame on me! In 2012, LEGO released the 9525-1 - Pre Vizsla's Mandalorian Fighter. This set is the original version of the fighter, used by the Mandelorian faction Death Watch, lead by Pre Vizsla. Later, Darth Maul would use the ship, in a Black and Red color scheme in his Shadow Collective. A bit later on, the Knights of Ren used the ship. The model apparently appeared multiple times in Star Wars: Clone Wars, but I did not recognize it.

The second model I did recognize: MOC-34444 - The TIE Silencer - Knights of Ren Edition. This is a prototype TIE Fighter, used during the First Order war with the Resistance, flown by Kylo Ren. It first appeared in Star Wars Episode VII The Last Jedi. The model the_bricked_cave has some personal touches, making it a non-true copy of the original. But who knows. Maybe once, a long time ago, in the fast galaxy far, far away, this version has been flown too.

Can you tell us something about yourself? Who is behind the_bricked_cave?
Behind the_bricked_cave is a guy, who is a total LEGO nerd since 1993. I remember getting my first set for being a tough guy at the dentist. And also a total goof because I gave away all my LEGO to buy a XBox 360. And luckily got back because I never got over that loss. Now I love to build, to create, to connect and to enjoy everything in the AFOL community.
How long did it take you to design this MOC?

This one took me around 7 or 8 days. I started to create the symmetrical wings, then the functions. So I had a really good plan where to start and what would be next.

During this time our baby could be born every moment. We still had a few things to do. So I worked on it every now and then within two weeks.
When someone mentions Star Wars, most people think of the Falcon, X-Wing, TIE or Star Destroyer. For the Manalorian Komrk Class Fighter, you have to dig deeper into the lore. Can I assume you are a Star Wars fan? And if so, what is your favorite aspect (movies, comics, books etc, canon or legends)?
Yes, since I saw the crazy guy with the black helmet on TV over 25 years ago, I've been from the franchise. Mainly the films and audio books. I'm a big comic book fan, but for some reason I haven't read a Star Wars comic book yet. It's still an easy achievement on my bucket list..
