Grace Jones

Grace Jones jamaicai származású amerikai modell, aki 1948-ban vagy 1952-ben - kissé ellentmondásosak az információk - született Grace Mendoza néven. Első sikereit modellként érte el, ezt a népszerűséget kamatoztatta később a zeneiparban, ahol a pop műfajában tevékenykedett. 1984-ben a A One Man Show című száma Grammy-díjat kapott - legjobb női videó kategóriában -, de hangját nagyon sok kritika érte. 1965-ban Grace-t és testvérét a szülei New York állam egyik városába küldték, ahol a lány színművészetet tanult a helyi egyetemen. Grace különleges egzotikus jamaicai származásának köszönheti, hogy csakhamar a fotósok és a divatszakemberek is felfigyeltek rá, nem sokkal később pedig már a leghíresebb magazinokban szerepelt, és karrierje egy csapásra beindult. Grace magánélete többé-kevésbé a nyilvánosság előtt zajlott, bár ez aligha volt a díva ellenére. A ’70-es években hosszabb élettársi kapcsolat fűzte Jean-Paul Goude-hoz, akitől Paulo nevű fia is született. Goude sokat tett Grace jellegzetes imázsának kialakításáért: tőle származnak például a díva extravagáns öltözékei, és számos, ma már legendásnak mondható fotót is készített kedveséről, így például a Private Life és a Nightclubbing jól ismert borítófotóit.

A ’80-as évek első felében Grace a testőrével, Dolph Lundgrennel esett szerelembe. A svéd testépítőt be is ajánlotta egy kisebb szerepre a Halálvágta című filmbe. Nagy feltűnést keltettek közös meztelen fotóik, melyek a Playboy 1987. szeptemberi számában jelentek meg. Noha állítólag eljegyezték egymást, a kapcsolatból mégsem lett házasság. Lundgren utódja egy másik skandináv testépítő, Arnold Schwarzenegger jó barátja, a dán Sven-Ole Thorsen lett, aki a Conan, a pusztítóban is játszott. E viszony is barátsággá változott az idők folyamán, és Grace 2007 májusában csak azért vállalt fellépést a dán televízióban, hogy ezzel népszerűsítse Thorsen akkor megjelent önéletrajzi könyvét. 1996-ban Grace az oltár elé állt: új szerelme ismét aktuális testőre volt, az egyes források szerint magyar, más források szerint török származású Atila Altaunbay. Noha ez a házasság állítólag még tart, a pletykalapok szerint Grace-t 2006. augusztus 18-án eljegyezte az arisztokrata Ivor Guest, a IV. Viscount Wimborne.
