Choosing a drum unit

If your printer is nearing the end of its life, you're probably wondering how to choose a replacement drum unit. When it comes time to replace your drum unit, simply open the front cover of your printer. Push down on the green lever to remove the toner cartridge and slide back the toner and drum assembly.

Drum wear occurs over time due to constant interaction between the drum unit and toner and paper in the paper path. Brother has designed their products to last as many as 15,000 full rotations before needing to be replaced. During the drum unit's life, the product will continue to operate, but its print quality will not be as good as it used to be.

When the drum unit is nearing its life, the printer will display the Drum End Soon (X) message. This message will appear after each print job for about one minute.
