In a computer network, a switch is a key switching device to connect and control data between devices in a network. One of the most important concepts related to switches is Layer 2 and Layer 3. In this article, we will explain the difference between Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches together with their applications in the network.

Switch Layer 2 is an OSI (Open Systems Interconnection) model. The main task of the Layer 2 switch is to transfer data based on the MAC (Media Access Control) of the device. When receiving a frame of data, switch Layer 2 will consider only the MAC address and forward the frame to the destination port accordingly. Các switch Layer 2 works with a switching table (switching table) to determine the port's destination for switching data. Switch Layer 2 does not perform routing and does not transmit data between other networks.

Trong khi dó, switch Layer 3 operates at layer 3 in the OSI model and provides routing capabilities among other networks. Switch Layer 3 can use information about the device's IP address to determine the destination port for data transfer. Nó có một nộng quảnhọm định đến IP một và sứng định phường đến một (routing table) định định định động đi định nhất cho hội tin. Switch Layer 3 provides connectivity and data transmission between LAN (Local Area Network) and WAN (Wide Area Network).

The difference between switch Layer 2 and Layer 3 lies in the range of operation and the ability to transfer further data. Switch Layer 2 operates in the same LAN network and only transfers data based on MAC only. Trong khi dó, switch Layer 3 có máchọc định động dất liệu đến các rộng đến nhau sứng định định đến IP.
The Layer 2 switch application is often used in LAN networks where many devices are connected to each other in a broadcast domain. Switch Layer 2 helps increase network performance by transferring data directly between ports without having to transmit it to all other ports. This will reduce network speed and increase data transmission speed.

Switch Layer 3 is used in a large LAN network or in a network connection connecting many other LAN networks. Switch Layer 3 helps to route data between different networks, allowing data transmission between LAN and WAN networks. Nó đến cungến mộch nặc chia ảnh (subnetting) vạn khạn lý sạn đếm đến IP.
In conclusion, switch Layer 2 and Layer 3 play a significant role in the network network. Switch Layer 2 transfers data based on MAC address and serves LAN network, while Switch Layer 3 provides the ability to route data between different networks and connect LAN and WAN. The choice of using a Layer 2 or Layer 3 switch depends on the network requirements and requirements.
