Tom Araya

Tom Araya 1961. június 6.-án született Chilében azon belül pedig Viña Del Marban, viszont családjával elköltözött az Amerikai Egyesült Államokba, amikor 5 éves volt. Így a Californiai Maywoodban nőtt fel.

Slayer

1981-ben Arayát megkörnyékezte Kerry King (gitáros) aki megkérte, hogy csatlakozzon a zenekarához, a Slayerhez. Araya akkoriban légzőszervi terapeutaként dolgozott és az abból befolyt összeget arra fordította, hogy pénzelje az 1983-ban készült bemutatkozó albumot a Show No Mercyt. Számos dalt írt a Slayer albumaira emellett érdeklődése a sorozatgyilkosok iránt ihletként szolgált több dalhoz is, többek között a 213-hoz mely Jeffrey Dahmerről szól és a Dead Skin Mask ami pedig Ed Geinről. A Show No Mercy után 1985 áprilisában megjelent a 2. lemezük ami a Hell Awaits címet viseli. Egy évvel később, 1986-ban megjelent a Reign in Blood című albumuk mely aranylemez lett. Az 1988-ben megjelent South of Heaven című lemez Amerikában és Kanadában is kivívta az aranylemez státuszt. 1990 októberében újabb lemezt adtak ki melynek címe Seasons in the Abyss lett, ez a lemez szintén aranylemez lett Amerikában és Kanadában.1994-ben piacra dobták a Divine Intervention című albumot mely Amerikában és Kanadában a korábbi albumhoz hasonlóan aranylemez lett. 1996 májusában az Undisputed Attitude című lemezt adták ki. 1998-ban a Diabolus in Musica című album került a boltok polcaira. Majd 2001 szeptemberében a God Hates Us All című lemez jelent meg. 2006-ban a Christ Illusion címmel megjelent albumuk a Billboard 200 rangsorában az 5. helyen végzett. 2009 novemberében megjelent a World Painted Blood című albumuk mely Amerikában aranylemez lett. Legutóbbi albumuk 2015 szeptemberében jelent meg Repentless címmel.

Magánélet

Testvére Johnny egy melankolikus death metál bandában játszik a Thine Eyes Bleedben. Néha viszont besegít a Slayernek is. Araya a Texasi Buffaloban egy farmot birtokol feleségével akivel két közös gyermekük született egy lány Ariel Asa Araya (1996, Május 11.) és egy fiú ifj. Tomas Enrique Araya (1999, Június 14.).
