Stephen Rea

Stephen Rea ír színész Graham Rea néven 1946. október 31-én született az Észak Írországi Belfast-ban. Alapfokú iskoláit a helyi iskolában végezte, majd beiratkozott az Belfast-i Egyetemre. Színészi végzettséget az Abbey Theatre iskolán szerzett Dublinban, itt ismerkedett meg Gabriel Byrne-nel és Colm Meaney-vel.

Az 1970-es, 80-as években leginkább színházakban és televíziós sorozatokban szerepelt. Nemzetközi ismertséget a The Crying Game/Síró játszma címû film hozott számára, amelyben Fergus karakterének megformálásáért Oscar díjra is jelölték. A film írója és rendezõje Neil Jordan volt, akivel a közös munka annyira gyümölcsözõnek bizonyult, hogy 2005-ig további tíz filmet forgattak együtt.

1980-ban Tom Paulin, Brian Friel, Seamus Heaney és Seamus Deane közremûködésével segített megalapítani a Field Day Theatre Company-t, melynek célja egy nagy Észak-Írországi színházi társulat létrehozása volt.

A színészet mellett élénk társadalmi életet is él, Stephen Rea az UNICEF Írország globális Szülõ-program nagykövete.

20 év házasság után 2003-ban elvált feleségétõl Dolours Price-tól, akitõl 3 gyermeke született.
