Élete

James Scott Bumgarner 1928. április 7-én született Normanban.Legfiatalabb a három testvérei közül.Édesanyja elhunyt, mikor 5 éves volt.Alig 16 évesen II. világ háború idején csatlakozott az United States Merchant Marinehoz, azonban krónikus tengeribetegséget szenvedett.A háború után beiratkozott a Hollywood High Schoolba.Középiskola tornatanára modell munkát ajánlott neki,amit el is fogadott azonban utálta csinálni.Majd elutazott Koreába 14 hónapra, de megsérült két alkalommal.

Karrier

Első kisebb szerepét 1956-ban kapta a Warner Brothers Presents című sorozatban.Még ebben az évben három filmben kapott szerepet.Három epizódig láthattuk a Conflict című sorozatban ahol Red/ Jim Curtis-t alakította.Ez alatt újabb sorozatban jelent meg a Cheyenneben.1957-ben megkapta Captain Bailey szerepét a Szajonara címó filmben.1970-es évekig olyan híres filmek sorozatokban játszott mint például, A gyerekek órája,Maverick,A nagy szökés,Minden Izgalmas,A kerékpáros kereskedők,Fegyverek órája,A kicsi nővér vagy épp A férfi, akit Sledge-nek hívtak.1971-ben 24 epizódon keresztól Nichols-t alakította a Nichols című sorozatban.Majd Két évvel később újabb sorozatban láthatta a közönség Jim Rockford-ként a A Rockford Files-ban.1981-ben A ventilátor című filmben kapott szerepet, ahol Jake Berman-t játszotta el.Rá egy évre a Viktor, Viktória című filmben köszöntött vissza ránk.

1981 és 1982 között Bret Maverick-et játszotta a Bret Maverick című sorozatban.Három évvel később egy újabb sorozatban bizonyított a Tér című mini sorozatba.Murphy Jones-t alakította 1985-ben a Murphy Romance című filmben.Szerepelt a 1988-as Naplemente című filmben,majd a 1993-as Égi tűzben,de láthattuk 1991 és 1992 között a Man of the People sorozatban.1994-től 6 filmben alakította Jim Rockford-ot.Szerepélt még a Álnokok és elnökök című filmben illetve a 1998-as Rejtélyes alkonyban.200-ben Tank Sullivan-t alkította az Űrcowboyok című filmben,majd hangját kölcsönözte az Atlantisz: az elveszett birodalom filmnek.A 2002-es Az igazság napja című sorozatban is láthattuk főbíró Thomas Brankin-ként.2003-tól egészen 2005-ig Jim Egan/CJ Barnes-ként mosolygott vissza ránk a Pimaszok című sorozatban.

2004-ben szerepelt a Szerelmünk lapjai című romantikus filmben,ahol az öreg Duke-ot alakította.2006-ban A legszebb ajándék című filmben szerepelt.2007-ben láthattuk a First Night rövid filmben.

2014. július 19.-én szombat reggel, holtan találták rá a 86 esztendős színészre.Los Angeles-i halott kém később beszámolt, hogy szívinfarktus végzett a színésszel.
